- 2 teaspoons olive oil or vegetable oil
- 1 cup chopped white onion
- 1 ½ teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 pound ground chuck
- 15 ounces tomato puree
- ½ cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons chili powder such as McCormick
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Place the oil in a medium-sized pot over medium heat. When the oil is hot, add the onion and garlic. Sauté until the onions are tender. Add the ground chuck and cook until the beef is no longer pink. Drain the fat from the beef if desired.
Add the tomato puree, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper to the pot. Simmer over medium-low heat for about 20 minutes and serve over your favorite hot dogs.
